A broad range of beauty products are designed to make lives easier for consumers while also promising aesthetic results as well. Unfortunately, a rising number of individuals who have made use of the Wen Hair Care line, a grouping of sulfate free hair products created by Guthy-Renker have been the subject of rising number of consumer complaints.
These products have recently been associated with damaging effects such as hair loss and individuals who have been affected by this situation may be eligible to recover compensation after consulting with a defective product attorney. Chaz Dean, a celebrity hairstylist first developed the Wen Hair Care line in the 1990s. The purpose was to develop a product that would not use sulfates in order to moisturize and protect hair.
The proprietary formula of the Wen cleansing conditioner combines detangler shampoo, leave-in conditioner, and deep conditioner. There are four products on the Wen Hair Care line, including:
- Replenishing treatment mist
- Anti-frizz styling cream
- Straightening smoothing gloss
- Nourishing mousse
A popular ingredient in traditional hair care products, sulfates, do not appear in the Wen Hair Care line. Sulfates are used to generate lather found in products like conditioner and shampoo. However, research has shown that essential oils can be stripped from the hair leading to long term damage and dry hair when sulfates are used. The cleansing conditioner was marketed as a very gentle product for individuals who wanted to clean, condition and style all kinds of hair.
These products were marketed as safe for everyday consumer use, and the millions of women who purchased them may be at risk of serious side effects, including balding and losing the ability to grow hair. Many of these women have already taken action by filing a lawsuit or investigating their legal rights to do so.
